What is EFT?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a simple, non-intrusive, method of defusing emotional issues and reducing the level of stress most people feel in everyday life. EFT works at an energetic level. The foundation statement of EFT is 'all negative emotions are caused by a disruption in the body's energy system'. Energy travels through the body at the speed of light, and our thoughts are energy at work. Next time you experience a negative emotion, notice how long it takes for the information to travel from the brain to be experienced somewhere in your body. Chemicals move at a much slower rate of 1cm per second. Yet in the West, modern medicine has focused on the physical and chemical aspects of the body, and the electromagnetic energy that flows throughout our body and regulates our health is only recently becoming widely recognised. Emotional health is absolutely essential to our physical health and wellbeing. To quote Dr Bruce Lipton, one of the world's top cellular biologists, '95% of ALL illness is caused by stress, and 100% of stress is caused by wrong beliefs'. EFT is a relatively new technique developed in the USA by Gary Craig and featured by Paul McKenna on his television show. Yet EFT has its origins in ancient Chinese Shaolin and Taoist monasteries, where the subtle energies and meridians that travel through the body were first mapped. It also owes much to our growing understanding of human psychology, especially for in-depth emotional issues, and quantum physics.

 

EFT is now becoming widely taught, used and scientifically accepted. It is based on the tapping of acupressure points and has been called 'psychological acupuncture', as it uses the same meridian points as acupuncture to treat emotional and physical issues, but without the invasiveness of needles. Simple tapping of the fingertips is used, to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the body, while tuned into a specific problem. The combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing of specific statements works to clear the emotional disruption or energy block from the system, thus restoring your mind and body's balance. 

 

EFT is simple to learn and use; so simple in fact that you can learn how to apply it in a few minutes and use it regularly on a self-help basis whenever an emotional issue, fear, pain or phobia occurs in your life, to collapse it quickly.  What are the benefits of working with an EFT Practitioner? 
 


The main advantage of having a practitioner is that the practitioner understands and has experience of collapsing the major belief patterns, energy imbalances and psychology causing the problem, disease or issue, and can therefore help the client overcome more significant issues and collapse negative emotional, behavioural and disease based patterns.

It is extremely difficult, usually impossible, for an individual to release themselves completely from emotional, psychological and physiological issues because we can't solve a problem with the same mind that created it. The 'problem' is part of our mental construction of reality which creates the filter for our perception. As this is an unconscious construction, it is therefore outside the awareness of our conscious mind. Furthermore, all problems start as solutions, and so have been useful to us at some stage.

Nevertheless, once you have worked with your practitioner to identify the belief patterns holding you in an unwanted state, and begun to work on the issues together, it is very beneficial to continue collapsing the negative emotions associated with them on your own between sessions. Any difficult issues or memories that may arise can be dealt with in your sessions. Just imagine - if you work on one aspect every day, you will have collapsed 365 issues in one year!
